📢 The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has officially announced the “Bangkok Ordinance on Pet Ownership and Animal Control B.E. 2567 (2024)”.
🗓️ The law will take effect starting January 10, 2026, aiming to ensure safety for both residents and pets in the city.
All pet owners must understand and strictly comply, or face legal consequences.
📌 Key Highlights of the New Ordinance:
1. Pet Limit Based on Property Size
•Rental room / condo (20–80 sq.m.) → Max 1 pet
•Condo over 80 sq.m. → Max 2 pets
•House on ≤ 20 sq. wah* → Max 2 pets
•House on ≤ 50 sq. wah → Max 3 pets
•House on ≤ 100 sq. wah → Max 4 pets
•House on > 100 sq. wah → Max 6 pets
(*1 sq. wah ≈ 4 sq.m.)
•Livestock (cows, horses, ducks, chickens) → Must have sufficient area as legally required
2. Mandatory Pet Registration + Microchip Implant
•Within 120 days of birth OR within 30 days of ownership
•Special breeds (e.g. Pit Bull, Rottweiler) → Must notify your district office for extra regulation
